The u22 Festival is a short film festival for filmmakers under 22, with a focus on the way young people see the world around them.
For its Barcelona edition, HORIZON was invited to award a special prize recognizing one of the short films from the festival’s official selection.
This award gives the filmmaker the opportunity to join the HORIZON network and travel with the festival for its Brussels edition in February 2025.
The final selection screening was attended by 300 people, where Lucia G. Romero’s short film was honored with the HORIZON prize.

Jessica is a 14-year-old teenager from a marginalized background. The abuse she suffered from her father from a young age has made her a violent and self-destructive girl, even toward her younger sister, 8-year-old Alma, with whom she shares a hostile relationship. Following a misunderstanding, Jessica must go to the food assistance office with her sister during the San Juan festival. During this journey, the two sisters learn to treat each other with a little more kindness.
